Summary

All sorcerers are evil。 Elisabeth has known that as long as she has known anything。 Raised as a foundling in one of Austermeer's Great Libraries, Elisabeth has grown up among the tools of sorcery--magical grimoires that whisper on shelves and rattle beneath iron chains。 If provoked, they transform into grotesque monsters of ink and leather。 She hopes to become a warden, charged with protecting the kingdom from their power。

Then an act of sabotage releases the library's most dangerous grimoire。 Elisabeth's desperate intervention implicates her in the crime, and she is torn from her home to face justice in the capital。 With no one to turn to but her sworn enemy, the sorcerer Nathaniel Thorn, and his mysterious demonic servant, she finds herself entangled in a centuries-old conspiracy。 Not only could the Great Libraries go up in flames, but the world along with them。

As her alliance with Nathaniel grows stronger, Elisabeth starts to question everything she's been taught--about sorcerers, about the libraries she loves, even about herself。 For Elisabeth has a power she has never guessed, and a future she could never have imagined。

"If you are looking for magic you will find it inside this book。 Sorcery of Thorns is a bewitching gem, full of slow burning romance, loyal friendships, and extraordinary world building。 I absolutely loved every moment of this story。" --Stephanie Garber, #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Caraval series

From the New York Times bestselling author of An Enchantment of Ravens comes an imaginative fantasy about an apprentice at a magical library who must battle a powerful sorcerer to save her kingdom。

somewhere between 3。75-4 stars。i enjoyed most of the book, i feel like the ending and the villain could have been more developed/stronger but overall a good book。 i liked the epilogue。

One of the best books I’ve read this year。 Or ever。 I couldn’t put it down!

3。5 StarsThe novel leans more towards fantasy than romance。 There's a sprinkle of romance but that's not the main focus of this novel。 The story is interesting and I like the characters but unfortunately I don't love them。 For some reason I just couldn't fully immerse myself into the story。 I don't know, maybe it's my reading slump but the novel lacks that oomph。 Overall, enjoyable but not amazing。 3。5 StarsThe novel leans more towards fantasy than romance。 There's a sprinkle of romance but that's not the main focus of this novel。 The story is interesting and I like the characters but unfortunately I don't love them。 For some reason I just couldn't fully immerse myself into the story。 I don't know, maybe it's my reading slump but the novel lacks that oomph。 Overall, enjoyable but not amazing。 。。。more

They really went from zero to hero there💀I mean I get that I'm used to reading series and that gives more space for slowburn but THE ONLY REASON I'M NOT GIVING IT ONE SAD LITTLE STAR IS BECAUSE IF SILAS AND THE ENDING。Because what the actual fuck。 Kinda felt like it was written by a 13 year old child at some points, or at least written FOR 13 year olds。 THE WAY THE BOOKS TALKED AND THE CURSIVE FONT JUST MADE IT SOUND VERY CHILDISH😭Also what even was with Nathaniel and Elisabeth's relationship?? I really wanted to love this book but it was so hard to get through。 The first 100 pages were so slow and it just felt like so much information was given and nothing much happened。 The romance was a drag as well, I think it could have done without。 I did love the relationship between the ML and his demon servant Silas though that part was a great read but other than that it was just a disappointment。

I put this book down a long time ago because I didn't like it, but I tried to go back so I could finish it before leaving a review。 I still haven't finished it, and I don't intend to unless I get bored。 The characters lack distinction, and the narration feels melodramatic。 The story starts off with one of the most interesting concept pitches I've read in a long time, but then branches off to a different idea, and then a different idea, until I stopped reading。 This book's plot has a unique probl I put this book down a long time ago because I didn't like it, but I tried to go back so I could finish it before leaving a review。 I still haven't finished it, and I don't intend to unless I get bored。 The characters lack distinction, and the narration feels melodramatic。 The story starts off with one of the most interesting concept pitches I've read in a long time, but then branches off to a different idea, and then a different idea, until I stopped reading。 This book's plot has a unique problem that I don't think I've ever really read before, where the story seems to foreshadow something that will be important down the road, but then just has that something fulfilled in the next scene。 Ultimately, it's a pacing problem。 If that happened once or twice, it wouldn't be bad, but it feels like it happens almost every scene。 The progression of the plot feels choppy as a result, where instead of scenes flowing from one to another, it's instead "The This Part" and "The That Part," kind of like when a comedy movie seems written around a handful of sketch ideas rather than a plot。 It's disappointing, because there are some really great ideas here, but it's the execution that falls flat。 。。。more

Well, I think Rogerson's book are just not my cup of tea, sadly。 The plot is kind of boring。 I don't root for any of the characters。 And I don't feel any romantic chemestry between the romantic leads。 I would have dropped this if I actually read the book and didn't listen to the audiobook。 An Enchantment of Ravens was the same but at least that one was shorter。 Well, I think Rogerson's book are just not my cup of tea, sadly。 The plot is kind of boring。 I don't root for any of the characters。 And I don't feel any romantic chemestry between the romantic leads。 I would have dropped this if I actually read the book and didn't listen to the audiobook。 An Enchantment of Ravens was the same but at least that one was shorter。 。。。more

Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson fixed every criticism I had with An Enchantment of Ravens。 I swear it felt like it was written by a different author。 I was supposed to sell this book because I really hated AEOR and I'm not expecting this book will blew me away but I was wrong! Sorcery of Thorns captivated me from page one, and I adored it very much that there was never a moment that I wanted to shut this very magical book and stop reading。 😌🤍☁️✨👏🏻What I love about it is the world building Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson fixed every criticism I had with An Enchantment of Ravens。 I swear it felt like it was written by a different author。 I was supposed to sell this book because I really hated AEOR and I'm not expecting this book will blew me away but I was wrong! I feel like it's more on love at first sight。 The stolen glances, hand brushing, the little smiles? The subtle romance is the best ever it will definitely make you smile and give you butterflies while reading this book!! I just really love Nathaniel and Elizabeth! 💦 The things that I only disliked was the explanation of why Elizabeth was so special was not an explanation?? I'm still confused。 And the plot was kind of dragged but still it’s a good story。 Overall, I highly recommend this book if you wish to read something light and magical! 🪄🧚Thanks to Sorcery of Thorns, I think I’ll look forward to read other books by Margaret Rogerson。🤣rating: 🗝🗝🗝🗝 。。。more
